Description:
The third seminar in the Mystery Science Seminar series will focus on the audio spectrum. Several visualizations using lasers and home-made Chladni plates will be combined with sound recording meters. The effects caused by the various frequencies and amplitudes of sound will demonstrate some of the beauty and hazards of sound waves. Various electrical circuits which produce different sounds will be provided for observation and analysis.
The Mystery Science Seminar series is being hosted this year by Joe Domanico. There will be a total of four seminars, spread out throughout this year, given on the third Saturday of the month. Mr. Domanico is a 2015 recipient of the STEM Innovator Award from the Northeastern Maryland Technology Council and has been chosen as a Paul Harris Fellow by the Southern Harford Rotary Club. He has been involved in STEM activities for over 15 years and is best known for his energetic chemistry demonstrations. He joins us this year to discuss and demonstrate various topics to include phosphorescence, luminescence, the electromagnetic spectrum, sound and light, and the joining of various STEM topics in his passion for COSPLAY.
